Umpires Award winners for 2017/18

The Annual Awards Presentation for the 2017/18 season was held at the Osborne Park Bowling Club, Sunday 8 April 2018.

Special guests included our Life Members, John Ireland, Paul Pearce, John Bamford, Darryl Wilkinson, Angelo Porcaro, John Thompson and our newest Life Member Bruce Boland; our guest speaker, The Honourable Colin Tincknell, MLC; Phil Power our Auditor also a former Association Chairman and Matthew Hall, Umpire Manager at WACA.

The Darryl Wilkinson Award for Umpire of the Year was awarded to Terry Carter.  In his acceptance speech he thanked every umpire he has umpired with over the past seasons and in particular the last two seasons in 1st Grade, Lloyd Tifflin and Matthew Hall were also thanked especially for the training they provide to all umpires.

First Grade Umpire of the Year was won by Greg Ursich, who once again had a great season and along with Terry was rewarded with umpiring the 1st Grade Grand Final.

Second Grade Umpire of the Year was won by Curtis Rees who was rewarded with his hard work improvement over the season, Congratulations.

Third Grade Umpire of the Year was awarded to Bobby Banerjee, Bobby has been around cricket for a long time, well earned.

2nd Division Umpire of the Year was awarded to Srini Kandadai, has been with us for some time and it is good to see him attain this award.

Best First Year Umpire was won by Tony de Nobregra, welcome Tony, great to see that your first year was a good one.

John Ireland (Patrons Award) was awarded to John McAvan, it is good to see this award go to John, a special award.

The Brian Gardner Award was awarded to Terry Carter for outstanding service to the Association, Terry has joined the Committee for the first time and has taken over the role of having our website updated, it is starting to look welcoming, well done and hope he keeps up the great work.

Certificates for Milestone Games (100) were presented to Wendy Oliver, Ross Skuthorp and Terry Carter.

The very prestigious award of Life Membership was awarded to Bruce Boland.  Bruce has been an outstanding umpire for many years and been a wonderful servant as his role on our committee. Congratulations on this well deserved honour.  Bruce made special mention of his wife Jan whom has been a great support to him over the years. He also spoke fondly of his time in the Association and the many friendships he has formed over the years.
